Brand new this year is my Christmas tunes ebook! In it you’ll find 5 of my favourite Christmas tunes to play written in guitar tablature & standard notation. Alongside each song are performance notes to help with the tricky bits and QR code links to demonstration videos on YouTube.
Jingle Bells
Winter wonderland
Silent Night
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
The pieces are arranged in the intermediate/advanced range. They’ll still be worth looking at for beginners to learn some new techniques (Silent Night intro - just saying 😉) or to give yourself a challenge!
Jingle Bells is an easier version of the arrangement I tend to play on solo gigs around Christmas time that came from teaching the tune to beginners in primary school for years. I developed an arrangement where I could play the tune as well as the backing to keep the kids on track.
Winter Wonderland is a tricky one as it has moving lines throughout the first part and some challenging chord changes in the middle section.
Silent Night includes some very nice (if I do say so myself) natural harmonics in the first section that will test your fretboard geography!
Let It Snow (x3) was arranged very much in the style of the great Chet Atkins and has some lovely moving chords underpinned with alternate bass played with the thumb. Spend a few hours/days/weeks/months mastering Travis picking first if you haven’t played it already before attempting this arrangement.
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is the trickiest of all the arrangements in this ebook. I went all out jazz with substitutions garnered from lessons I took with Frank Vignola a few years ago. Take your time with this one and you’ll be rewarded!
